I'm putting my Basic Grey Kissing Booth collection to good use. :) This time I'm using it on a Valentine's Day card along with some vintage images from K & Company.

Hello! It's February and maybe because Valentine's Day is just around the corner and there's pink paper collections all around, but whatever the reason, my scrapping colour du jour is pink and brown. Make that du mois. :)

Here's a layout I created using Basic Grey's new Kissing Booth collection.

I'm not a pink layout person, but the mix of browns and not overly lovey-dovey prints in the BG papers made it ideal for making a grungy-if-somewhat-sweet layout of my puppy. I went to town with my distressing tool, distress inks and crushed up the patterned papers as I went along to create lots of textural frames.

I Can Lick My Nose, Can You?

I had to scrap this cute photo, hence the title. :)

I used Webster's Pages' Western Romance papers on this layout. I like the pale colour combination of yellow, teal and purple, a very unusual combination but it seems to work really well.

A Perfect Memory

This is one of my current favourites for layouts. It's got a little bit of everything I like - layers, lace, trims, mists, glaze, texture mediums, burlap, crystals, handcut details... Everything it seems except flowers. :D

I used Basic Grey's Curio collection here. Love this collection. :)

I used the Kaisercraft leaves as a stencil for creating a textured background for the layout. Having done its duty as a stencil the leaves were then inked over with several shades of distress inks and distress stickles.

The chipboard was layered over the textured background along with some lace, trims, hand cut patterned paper and of course Zva Creative crystal flourishes.

Laines January Class - A Romantique Gift

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so I've designed this class for those of you looking to create a handmade gift from the heart for your loved ones. It's a beautiful keepsake tin which holds its own precious circle mini album inside. We'll be altering this popular Graphic 45 metal film canister in a romantic and unique 3D style using the all-time favourite Graphic 45 Le’Romantique papers, plus flowers and butterflies from Prima Marketing and lace and trims from Webster’s Pages. You’ll also alter a chipboard mini album in a matching romantic style, which has pockets for your secret messages to your sweetheart.

And if you're coming for class, do remember to bring precision scissors, strong liquid glue, acid-free tape glue, 3D foam dots and especially, brown distress inks, because we'll be using a lot of that.

Aidan's First Christmas

Sweet Aidan spent his first Christmas with us this last December. He rather enjoyed watching us set up the Christmas tree, jumping around the boxes and chasing after the Christmas ball ornaments before they were hung up on the tree. :)

This layout's for Zva Creative using one of their new Fancy Bird red crystals. The patterned paper's from Webster's Pages' Botanical Christmas papers.

I lined the base with some muslin, layered the fussy cut details and photos with 3D foam dots and added a strip of gathered cotton lace.

Wishing all my dear friends and family a Happy and Fulfilling New Year! May all your wishes come true.

And what's a post without some photos. This is a class I taught at PaperMarket and Laines in November. It's an altered Kaisercraft wooden tree for Christmas, using patterned papers and chipboards from Graphic 45 and Prima flowers, vines and bird's nest. A happy little festive altered. :)

Altered wooden frame

My DT term at My Tattered Angels comes to an end this month and I've had a fantastic two years plus on this wonderful team. I've made some wonderful friends and have been inspired by the creative talents there. So in that spirit I created an altered frame featuring a photo of Nathalie Kalbach, Emeline Seet and me when Nat came by for a visit to Singapore this year.

I transformed the plain wooden frame into this highly-textured one using Tattered Angels Waterfall Glimmer Glaze and Patina Glimmer Mist. The Kaisercraft cuckoo clock chipboard was misted with Chalk Chalkboard Mist and painted over with Chandelier Glimmer Glam.

The photo was silhouette cut and layered dimensionally along with fussy cut details from Webster's Pages Country Estate patterned paper.

Fun with Chipboards

I love chipboards and I like that the market's coming out with more and more intricate designs. Chippies are so versatile and you can work all kinds of mediums on them to create your own unique look, which is fantastic for me because I love working on mixed-media projects. Imaginarium Designs makes some really pretty chipboards and I would love to lay my hands on them. Until then, I'd like to share some of my favourite layouts and altered objects using chipboards.

1. Altered Frame - I altered a plain wooden photo frame, giving it lots of texture to transform it into a one-of-a-kind frame. The wooden cuckoo clock was misted with Tattered Angels Chalk chalkboard mist followed by some Chandelier glimmer glam to give it a subtle sparkle.

2. Layout: Bliss - The ornate window frame chippie was inked over with distress inks and sits amidst a collage of blue flowers. One of my favourite things about this layout is how I extended the brick wall in the photo onto the patterned paper.

3. Altered Box: Inspired - I enjoy experimenting with mixed mediums and this box was one of my afternoon experiments. The chipboard clock was misted with Tattered Angels glimmer mist and is part of a crazy collage of lace, fabric, buttons, metal, chipboard, gesso, paints, Tattered Angels glimmer glam and glimmer glaze. Would you believe this box was a luminous green originally? ;)

4. Layout: All Aboard - I found this new embossing enamel with gold flecks in my LSS and just fell in love with it. It works beautifully on chipboards and wood details. I liked it so much I taught a class on it in my LSS embossing a whole wooden Christmas tree with it. Photos of the class project are here.

5. Altered Canvas: Creative - There's lots of chipboard on this grungy canvas, altered using Tattered Angels mists, glimmer glam, glimmer glaze plus Tim Holtz distress inks and distress stickles.

6. Layout: Nature - I went for a clean look on this layout, where chipboard leaves are inked, stickled and layered with Zva Creative crystal flourishes.

7. Altered: Bird Cage Frame - This was something I created during my DT term with My Tattered Angels. The bird cage and bird were cut out of grunge board, curved to form a 3D cage, then glimmer misted, painted and crackle painted.

8. Layout: Cherish These Moments - I love the look of this chipboard butterfly. I misted it with shades of green and blue, then I stamped on a black flourish and followed that with a coat of crackle paint. I did a tutorial on it for My Scrapbook Nook.

9. Stickles Signage - This is a signage I created for my LSS for the stickles section of the store. Sometimes simplicity is best and here, the intricate chipboard was simply coated over with distress stickles allowing the raw element to show through. It was then adhered onto a square of patterned paper whose edges have been treated with the water distress technique to give it lots of dimension. To complete the layout, lots of layering of hand-cut details and the title on a Hambly clear print.

10. Layout: A Perfect Memory - To end off, I'd like to share one of my current favourites. I just completed the layout this morning and my favourite part of it is how I used the chipboard leaves as a stencil for creating a textured background for the layout. This is what I mean by I love the versatility of chipboards. You can use them as is - painted, misted, stickled, or you can use them as a stencil to mist a background on or create a uniquely textured background using gesso and paste. After doing their duty as stencils, the chipboards were then inked with several shades of distress inks and stickles and layered over the textured background along with some crystal flourishes and hand cut patterned paper, lace, trims and burlap.

So there you have it, some of my favourite ways of using, and abusing, chipboards. ;) Paint them, mist them, glaze them, emboss them, bend them, stamp on them, stencil them... You're only limited by your imagination. ;)

A grungy altered toy box

I had loads of fun altering this toy box for a Tattered Angels DT project. I was about to throw the box out but thought why not experiment on it.

So this was the box before:

And this is the box after:

Quite cool, huh? I covered the box with Prima’s Printery patterned papers and misted it all over with Chalk Chalkboard. I then took bits and bobs from my stash of leftovers and went to town covering the grungy collage with Rum Punch Mist and slathered on some Espresso Bean Glam.

This is my current favourite layout. It's something I created for My Tattered Angels and Zva Creative. I didn't use any patterned papers on it. Just some mists from My Tattered Angels, a Prima mask, some fabric, and flowers and crystals from Zva Creative.

Some happy experiments with the new mist colours from Tattered Angels which came together nicely to complement the colours in the photo.

Olive flowers and leaves from Zva Creative and black crystal flourishes, also from Zva. Gotta love that little brass filigreed butterfly too.

I recently laid my hands on some new Basic Grey Picadilly papers. The cheery colours and prints called out to me and I knew I had to scrap them with a new black and white photo I had. And this is what I came up with, inspired by a sketch at the Basic Grey blog.

As usual, I had to create a shabby-chic layout with lots of distressed edges layered with some lace, trims and Picadilly embellishments.

The lovely green crystal flourish is from Zva Creative. I turned it into a flutter trail for the butterfly and added some black Zva crystals for the butterfly's body and antennae.

The title work using Basic Grey sticker alphas. Did you spot the apple on the layout? Corny, I know. :)

O Christmas Tree - A PaperMarkt Class

Hi there! Here’s the class I’ve designed for PaperMarket for the month of November.

With Christmas just around the corner you might be thinking of handcrafting Christmas gifts for your loved ones or making a pretty Christmas home decor. In this class you’ll alter a wooden Kaisercraft tree in its own ornate metal vase, making a delightful Christmas tree to hang your family or friend’s favourite photos off of. You’ll get to create with some of the newest embossing powders, Christmas collections from Graphic 45 as well as flowers and embellishments from Prima Marketing.

Here's my October DT layout for Zva Creative using flowers, crystals and leaves from Zva Creative and patterned papers from Webster's All About Me collection. The layout's of my daughter's cute little puppy, Aidan.

Lots of layering of patterned papers, handcut details, flowers, lace and crystals. I used two Zva Creative crystals here - one's a green leafy stem, the other is the tail end of a butterfly flourish.

I like soft details on my layouts, like the use of lace, Webster's bloomers, and one of my favourites - muslin gathered under handcut details.

The layout's all about Aidan, so the journalling reads:

My Top 3 Faves:
1) Going for walkies.
2) Racing around super fast in the park.
3) Lazing in some cool mud on a hot afternoon.

I was surfing the net yesterday and came across this lovely sketch by Kim Keane at My Creative Sketches. I had an idea of how I was going to use it and as I had the afternoon free, I decided to give it a shot.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take:

I decided to scrap a photo of our puppy, Aidan, and his good doggy pal, Daisy. These two have a whale of a time together and this photo's so cute because it looks like the two of them are having a good chat with each other.

I used Prima's Romantique papers on the layout, along with a die cut from last season's Botanical collection. I went for a shabby-chic look with a subdued colour palette, distressed edges and lots of layering and dimension.

I dug deep into my stash of Prima flowers and merrily layered them over some scrunched up lace and trims. You might recognize some of the flowers from a few seasons ago mixed in with some brand new ones from this CHA. :)

The alphas are also from Prima and I chose a tone on tone for the title-work, selecting an off-white alpha over the beige patterned paper.

Prima September BAP Winner!!

I woke up this morning to a fantastic email from Sharon Laakkonen telling me I'd won Prima's September Build-A-Page. What a great way to start the morning. :)

Here's the layout:

I used Prima's new Printery collection on the layout. I love the Printery collection with its neutral vintagey hues. To give it a pop of colour I pulled out my trusty Tattered Angels glimmer mists, glams and glazes and gave the new Prima mistables a good spritz of colour. :)

The new Prima masks that came out this CHA are just so pretty. I misted one over a sheet of white cardstock with My Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in Mallard, Patina, Jazz Blue and Glimmer Glam in Organic Garden.

This dainty canvas floral stem is one of my favourites amongst Prima’s Resistant Canvas packs. You can custom colour it using Glimmer Mists to match any layout. Here I used shades of blue and green to complement the masked background – Mallard, Patina, Jazz Blue, Olive Vine and Clover.

Hi there! Here's a monochromatic layout I created for my design team assignment for My Tattered Angels. I created the brick wall background using Rum Punch Glimmer Mist and a Prima mask. I love all the new masks that are available in the market now. It's so easy to design your own background to match your patterned papers. Here the misted background blends perfectly with the patterned papers from Authentique.

One of my favourite elements on this layout, a wooden street lamp which I embossed and misted over with Chalk Chalkboard Mist from Tattered Angels.

I just received a big box of goodies from Tattered Angels so I'm going to go play with my mists some more. :)

Altered Wooden Peg

This month, the Tattered Angels Design Team are showing off the TA Paint Systems. I decided to work with this one, the Prima Hummingbird Paint System. This pack comprises four very versatile colours: Chalk Chalkboard, Rum Punch Glimmer Mist, Espresso Bean Glam and Waterfall Glaze.

For this first project I decided to have a go at some mixed media fun. I altered a wooden peg using Chalk Chalkboard and Waterfall Glaze, plus bits and bobs from my stash of leftover fabrics, flowers and whatnots.

I have to say I really enjoyed altering this wooden peg. It's a great way to use up little pieces of scrap.

Trekkin' Wales

I just realized I haven't posted this layout on my blog yet. It's one I created for My Tattered Angels for the Prima-Tattered Angels blog hop.

This project uses a 12×12 Prima canvas on which I painted on Glimmer Glam in Tide Pool and Organic Garden and misted with Glimmer Mists in Mallard, Trunk Bay, Patina and Sweet Clover. I layered on some Prima Pixie Glen patterned papers and Dusty Attic borders, and of course some Prima flowers.

The lovely Prima blooms were complemented by the new Prima Resistant Canvas leaves. I love the blank canvases with resistant prints which work perfectly with glimmer mists. The leaves were spritzed with Lemon Zest, Sweet Clover and Olive Vine for a lovely variegated tone.

More canvas lovelies in the form of these butterflies, which I misted in Jazz Blue and Lemon Zest.

Stinkin' Cute

This is one layout that's a departure from my usual shabby floral style. I'm trying out a grid design, something I don't think I've ever done, and look - no flowers! Okay, there are flowers cut out from the patterned paper, but not real flowers. :D

I used Crate Paper's Random collection on this layout. The colours and design of the patterned paper really lend themselves to creating on a grid.

The photo's of our dog lazing in the mud after a good afternoon workout. I cut some flowers from the patterned paper and layered them for some dimension and added a lovely green crystal swirl from Zva Creative. You can also see some of my Martha Stewart punches at work dividing up the grids.

Here's my Zva layout. It's a photo of my daughter with one of the horses at Blists Hill Victorian Town in the UK, a lovely little Victorian setting the school visited over summer.

The layout is clean with quite a bit of white space, because I wanted to highlight the brick-wall background which I had extended from the brick-wall stable in the photo.

The photo is framed using an ornate frame from Dusty Attic and the title is in a matching Tim Holtz ornate frame.

The main embellishment cluster here was created using a collection of blue flowers and crystals from Zva Creative. I think I must have used at least 7 different flowers and leaves from Zva on the cluster. :) Tucked amongst the flowers are fussy cut images from the Glitz patterned paper, Zva leaves, a Tim Holtz metallic frame and a stamped image of some birds on a branch.

Here's a layout I created using My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found 2 Blush collection. The soothing pink and mint hues of this collection are so sweet. Very un-me in terms of colour selection. :)

The photo was taken during my daughter's recent school field trip to Wales by a teacher who accompanied them there. I love the angle and composition of the photo.

I created a shadow box with the frame of MME's Beautiful Girl Lovely patterned paper.

The overall colour theme was kept soft and muted to allow the photograph to stand out. The title is in white in keeping with the muted tones of the layout.

A lovely butterfly pearl flourish from Zva Creative and some Zva flowers.

Some banners and birds cut from MME's Favorite Party Paper and popped up on the shadow box for dimension.

This month, Tattered Angels and Prima are having a blog hop. What a perfect match of two of my favourite manufacturers. :)

Here's the first layout I created using Prima's Pixie Glen papers along with their new Resistant Canvas.

I went for a soft pastel palette on this layout to complement the Pixie Glen papers, and layered on lots of fabrics in the form of rosette trims, muslin and of course fabric flowers and canvas elements from Prima. The look was further softened with the use of doilies and punched doily borders.

I painted on some glimmer mist in Vintage Pink on the white rosette trim to give it a tinge of soft pink.

Prima's new Resistable Canvas are some of my new favourites from Prima this CHA. I like that they're embossed to resist Tattered Angels mists and you can personalize them to your layout. Here the Prima canvas clock face and bird are misted over in soft hues of Sweet Clover, Trunk Bay and Patina Glimmer Mists.

Wales Mini Album

I'm into making mini albums these days. This is my latest one - a mini album of my daughter's school trip to Wales.

I used Basic Grey's Out of Print collection and matched it with stickers, die cut shapes and chipboards from Out of Print, Curio and Hello Luscious collections.

The lovely white flower is from Zva Creative as are the beautiful crystal swirls on the cover.

A glimpse of the inside pages. The journalling tag is from Basic Grey's Curio collection.

Hogwarts Castle

This is a layout I created for My Tattered Angels of our recent holiday to the wonderful Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Orlando. :)

I used Bo Bunny's Et Cetera collection and had great fun creating lots of dimension on it. I used a variety of textures – burlap, canvas, lace and corrugated paper to name a few.

The flowers and leaves were cut out from Prima’s Mistable Canvas Sheet, which I coloured with Glimmer Mists in Sun Sisters and Tiger Lily for the petals, and Olive Vine and Clover for the leaves.

I painted the corrugated cardboard with Cowboy Glimmer Glaze.

I went for a circle theme on a whim, and the Basic Grey stickers had the circle elements I needed. I popped up the elements with foam dots and attached the Zva butterfly to the flower.

Instructions:

1. Mist the Prima Acrylic page generously in Chalk and Mint Chocolate Chip Chalkboard Mist. Let air dry. Yes, chalkboard mists work beautifully on clear acrylics.

2. Mist the Prima flowers with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist. When dry, paint on some Glimmer Glaze in Chandelier for more glitter.

3. Dab on Glimmer Glaze in Tide Pool and Chandelier on the Prima vintage metal trinkets, giving them a bluish tinge.

4. Moisten the seam binding and mist them with Vintage Pink, Tutti Frutti, Forest Green and Hula Hoop Glimmer Mists, giving them a variegated look.

5. Assemble the page: Attach the cheesecloth to the acrylic scallop page using strong glue, layer on the Prima Notecard and photograph with dimensional foam dots. Tie the seam binding through the binder holes, attaching the lock charm as you tie off the ribbon. Position the flower and vine and glue them on. Attach the flower vintage trinket using strong glue.

I went for a monochromatic look with My Mind's Eye's Breeze collection, keeping the lines clean but still with lots of layering.

The clean dimensions are created using double-layered foam dots, layering cut-outs from My Mind's Eye patterned papers. I also found perfectly matching fabric fonts from my stash, in a complementary shade of aqua.

We caught Wicked the Musical when we were in London recently and of course I had to scrap it using Graphic 45's The Magic of Oz papers.

I created a shadowbox from the patterned paper and layered the scenes three layers deep, for lots of depth and dimension.

I used a 13x13 inch piece of burlap as the base, because it reminded me of the scarecrow.

Speaking of Graphic 45, Aimee and Diane will be in Singapore teaching a series of workshops this weekend. I'll be there of course. :) Can't wait for it.

Shabby Floral Card

Here's a vintage shabby card I created for My Tattered Angels.

The base of the card uses Bazzill Basics Paper’s Glazed Cardstock in Stripe White. I misted the glazed paper with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist. The glazed stripes resisted the mists perfectly and I achieved this pretty pink striped background.

For that vintage shabby look, I layered a doily print from Pink Paislee, a floral lace trim from Prima, some muslin and hand-crinkled seam binding from my stash, all topped off with a Prima flower and a filigreed metal butterfly.

The floral trim on the card is from Prima and was originally lilac. I misted this over with Chocolate Covered Cherries Glimmer Mist, resulting in a lovely vintagey brown-pink mix.

The bracket border is cut out and raised for a 3-dimensional shadowbox effect, and the layout is all gardenesque, with Zva flowers, leaves and crystal swirls, Webster's bloomers and trims, and more lace rosettes and muslin from my personal stash.

Singapore's celebrating its 46th National Day tomorrow. To all Singaporeans, Happy National Day!

Here are some stars I made for Laines Papeterie and PaperMarket to mark the celebrations.

Star 1 : Love, Wish, Dream - I used Graphic 45's Le Romantique papers on this star, cutting out details from the patterned paper and layered them using foam dots.

Star 2 : Enjoy The Journey - I created this star using papers from Graphic 45's Transatlantique collection, layering it with vintage lace, burlap and twine.

Star 3: Encourage Your Hopes - Here's another star using Graphic 45's Transatlantique papers, layered with burlap, washi tape and a manila tag. The stamps are from Tim Holtz by Stampers Anonymous.

Star 4: Domestic Goddess - This flirty star uses paper from Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess, layered with muslin, hand-crinkled seam binding and a Prima flower.

Star 5: It's The Little Things - This rustic fabric heart has burlap as its base, layered with muslin, a chipboard swirl from Maya Road, flowers from Prima Marketing, patterned paper and stamp from Tim Holtz.

Here's my Zva creation for the blog hop:

I went for a soft palette of pale pink, buttercup and baby blue with Webster's Pages' Let's Celebrate collection. I especially like how the pale blue in the patterned paper brought out the blue in my photo, which was taken at Tower Bridge in London.

I wanted a softly-textured layout and so brought out a variety of old and new fabrics from my stash - white eyelet lace, yellow bloomers and trims from Webster's Pages, cheesecloth and gorgeous mini rosettes on lace.

To complement the soft palette, a blue and clear butterfly crystal from Zva Creative, fluttering near a pink bloom from Zva as well.

Flea Market Finds Mini Album

This month the design team at Laines and PaperMarket got to design with some awesome Jenni Bowlin products. I decided to make this mini album of photos I took at a flea market on my recent London holiday.

I used Jenni Bowlin's Hodgepodge book and mixed it up with some patterned paper from Jenni Bowlin, Tim Holtz as well as embellishments from Prima Marketing and Pink Paislee.

Weaving In Some Potter Fun

Here's a layout I created using Basic Grey's new Out of Print collection which was picked up by Basic Grey's Gallery.

I used a single sheet of Out of Print Classifieds paper, cut it into strips and weaved them together to form a background. I kept the rest of the layout clean to allow the weaved background to show through. The photo was taken at Universal Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Lots of fun we had there. :)

A long title and a Zva Creative crystal (CRS-02CB-101) complete the layout.

Here's a layout I created using Basic Grey's new Out of Print collection and Zva Creative's crystal swirls.

The photo was taken at the Tower of London with the Queen's House in the background. The Queen's House was built by Henry VIII around 1530 for Ann Boleyn, who he later had executed but that's another story. Back to the layout... :)

Here's my Zva creation. To coordinate with my vintagey layout, I've decided to feature some beautiful brown crystals and flowers from Zva this month.

This photo was taken at Baker Street Station in London. I love the look of this tube station, with all its old brick walls, photos and general historical feel. To complement the photo, I used a brown and blue palette from Bo Bunny's Gabrielle line.

I ripped open the centre of the top patterned paper to create a frame for my matted photo, revealing glimpses of the Bo Bunny butterfly patterned paper beneath. The photograph was popped up using super thick dimensional foam dots.

The layout is embellished with Zva's lovely large brown blossom and a brown crystal flourish. I decided to let the crystal flourish float about half an inch off the raised photo. Journalling's on the small manila tags which have been inked and stamped to age them.

Popped-up butterflies layered high for more dimension, and lots of ripped edges.

Hi there! I'm still away on vacation so here's another pre-scheduled post. It's a canvas board for Tattered Angels featuring Pink Paislee's Daily Junque line with TA's Color Kit.

I used Dark Denim glimmer mist, Organic Garden glimmer glam and Pewter glimmer glaze on the canvas over a leafy Prima stencil. I like how Dark Denim actually looks like denim when it's misted over canvas.

Here's my second layout for Tattered Angels using Pink Paislee's Daily Junque line with TA's coordinating Color Kit.

Don't you like the title? :) Yep, that's our little puppy who's growing so fast.

I created the background using Organic Garden glimmer glam and Aquamarine glimmer mist over a TA glimmer screen.

The manila tag was misted over a TA glimmer screen and stamped with Pink Paislee's butterfly stamp.

Oh yes, this post was scheduled. So while you're reading this I'm probably catching a West End musical - my favourite thing to do while in London. :)

Off To Wales

All this month, the Tattered Angels DT will be showcasing the Tattered Angels Color Kits designed to coordinate with Pink Paislee's latest collections. I'm creating with Pink Paislee's Daily Junque line with Tattered Angels Aquamarine Glimmer Mist, Dark Denim Glimmer Mist, Organic Garden Glimmer Glam and Pewter Glimmer Glaze.

Here's my first layout, Off to Wales, of my daughter's school trip to Wales, UK this summer.

The background was created using Organic Garden glimmer glam and Aquamarine glimmer mist on a white cardstock over my favourite Tattered Angels compass glimmer screen and clear stamp.

Here's a close-up of the glam and mist at work:

I didn't use much embellishments on this layout, just a framed font from Tattered Angels and layering of Pink Paislee die cuts using foam dots.

And also lots of stamps from Pink Paislee.

Here's my Zva creation:

I used a large maroon flower (FL04CA108) from Zva Creative, accented with several leaves, also from Zva. At the opposite corner, a little cluster of a pink Zva flower (FL04CA132) atop some hand-dyed seam binding and more leaves from Zva.

I just picked up this pretty Basic Grey Hello Luscious collection pack from PaperMarket and I'm really liking the look of it. And of course those pretty crystal swirls from Zva (CR03CA116).

Here are a couple of sneaks of the class I'll be conducting next month at PaperMarket and Laines.

You'll be creating two lovely shabby-floral layouts with lots of detailed cutting, layering and distressing. As always, I'm embellishing the layouts with lots of Prima flowers, lace, fabric, trims, pearls and the beautiful new butterfly crystal swirl from Zva Creative as well as a pretty metal trinket. We'll also be working with the beautiful Laced with Grace papers from Glitz Design.

Prima Flowers

I just realized I haven't shared this layout I created as a store decor for PaperMarket's new store at Clementi Mall.

It's a signage for the Prima flower section of the shop. And obviously I went to town with Prima patterned papers and flowers. :)

Play Time

I played along with this month's Prima BAP and here's my take on it.

I created a layout using Prima's Madeleine collection.

I trimmed strips from both sides of Ste Marie to form the vertical blocks in the background. I fussy cut the borders from the patterned paper and used my border punches, then inked and curled the edges up for some dimension.

I used two smaller photos instead of the one photo shown in the sketch and added some softness between them with a Prima crystal flourish.

The edges of the base patterned paper, Parkway, were distressed and torn and layered over another patterned paper, Parsley Place.

I was also rather happy to find that my layout was featured on Prima's blog among some other April BAP entries. And that quite a few of the featured entries were from Singapore scrappers. :)

Art Journal - Sing

This is another mixed media page from my Art Journal for Tattered Angels.

I misted a pink glimmer mist over the entire page followed by Patina glimmer mist over a Prima leafy screen. I outlined the edges with a calligraphy pen to define the leaves then painted some glimmer glam in Private Meadow around the perimeter of the page.

I experimented with an image transfer of a bird and had fun with some musical print tissue tape. Both the tissue tape and the transfer had a translucent quality which allowed the misted background to peek through. Fun!

More misting fun on the chipboard bird cage which was then embellished with hand crinkled seam binding, a string of pearls and a mini Prima rose.

These art journal pages are fun to create and quite addictive too. :)

Art Journal - Fly

This month, the Tattered Angels design team is showing off some pages from our art journals. I use my art journals for experiments and trying out new ideas and techniques. There's a lot of hit and miss on these pages but that's the fun behind art journals.

Here's one of the pages - a canvas one.

It's another green page - lots of green mediums from Tattered Angels - mists, glams, glazes, green acrylic paint, green flowers...

An assortment of embellishments, mediums and ephemera brought together using a Tattered Angels framed font.

Another cluster at the top of the page.

A fun collage of wings, buttons and flowers. And trying out a bit of glimmer glam drippage in Organic Green.

The best thing about art journalling is that you can try out different techniques with wild abandonment and not worry too much about how things turn out. Perfection is NOT part of the game. :)

A layout with lots of Prima goodies. I created a shadow box using patterned paper from Prima's Botanical collection popped up with dimensional foam. The background sheet is a piece of canvas, on which I created my own background using a Prima mask and Tattered Angels' glimmer mists. I love the way mists work on canvas. The misted fabric pulls in a little and gives the canvas a little more dimension.

I cut out the leaf motif from Prima's Mistables sheet and misted that with Tattered Angels' Olive Vine mist. Love the way the mist curls the edges of the leaves.

The layout is adorned with a garden of peach, powder blue and clover flowers. That vine in that pale green is one of my favourite shades. I used a variety of fabrics on the layout - canvas, burlap, muslin, lace...

Heart Canvas Mini Album

I enjoyed creating this canvas mini album for PaperMarket.

The canvas mini's from Prima and I had fun altering it with acrylic paints and mediums. I covered all the pages with acrylic paint in yellow and green, a colour combination I don't often work with but something compelled me to try it out this time.

The cover page - bordered with Prima's new ecru lace and a strand of pearls. A floral vine trails down the left of the album in one of my favourite lemony shades. A chipboard from Prima's Botanical collection houses the title and is further adorned by some Prima pearl swirls.

Page 2 - a photo of our little puppy sits on the corner of an all-yellow page, to which I added lots of texture using mediums over a Prima bird stencil.

Page 3 - Prima Botanical papers, flowers, leaves, lace and a pearl swirl that echoes the shape of the heart.

Page 4 - Stamping on canvas using Prima's large foam stamps, and more yellow and white flowers from my stash.

Page 5 - A sweet photo which calls for just a simple floral and pearl cluster in the corner. I painted the canvas half yellow, half green and stamped the right side with some subtle script images.

Stickles Sign

This is another store signage I created for PaperMarket's new store at Clementi Mall. It's a 12x12 layout to showcase how you can use Stickles.

I used Rangers distressed stickles and regular stickles on Prima Madeline and Melody patterned papers.

Lots of dimension by way of water distressing technique and layering of fussy cut details.

Gold stickles carefully applied on the filigree pattern on the Prima patterned paper, blue stickles outline the butterflies, and distress stickles in walnut stain and peeled paint on the water distressed edges and the chipboard.

Icicle stickles accent the detailed cut outs from the Prima Madeline flowers and leaves.

Stickles, inks, distressing and layering - my favourite kind of layouts. :)

Fly High

Here's a layout that's full of butterflies. I created the background using my favourite butterfly stencils from My Tattered Angels, Patina glimmer mist and Tide Pool glimmer glam.

I hand-dyed some seam binding in shades of Tattered Angels Bahama Blue and Trunk Bay glimmer mists, then crinkled them.

A beautiful crystal butterfly swirl sits atop an olive flower, both new from Zva Creative. And btw, the new Zva crystals are available at PaperMarket and Laines now. So pretty!

I cut out the butterfly motifs from GCD Studio's Spring In Bloom papers, folded them up for dimension and had them flitting around on the layout.

Fluffy Love

Here's a layout that's a little different from my usual colour scheme. I created this for my guest DT spot on GCD Studios, using papers from GCD Studio's Fun House Collection and crystals and flowers from Zva Creative. In keeping with the bright colours, I went with a fun layout and the title strung from banners across the page.

The lovely flowers and crystal flourish fom Zva Creative.

The title on banners strung on twine. See the torn edge? I had someone ask me if my puppy had inadvertently got to my layout. ;)

A heart-shaped border for the circle mat, punched out from border punches, inked and distressed.

Oh, Zva Creative crystals are now available at Laines Papeterie and PaperMarket All the beautiful butterfly ones in many pretty colours. :)

Guest Designing for GCD Studios

I'm guest designing at GCD Studios!

A couple of weeks ago, I received a big box of some of the new CHA releases from GCD. I'd just broken my bone and scrapping was slow, if at all, so I only managed to put together a few layouts.

Here's my first one: Puppy Love, a layout I created using the Antiquities collection.

I love the vintage look of this collection and the colour palette of rich reds with weathered browns. I layered the layout using a combination of fabrics, such as burlap and muslin to create lots of texture and dimension.

I created a floral cluster using Prima flowers, leaves, pearls and lace, as well as some hand-crinkled seam binding.

The title work, using PaperMarket's Alphabite chipboard alphas with more seam binding.

PaperMarket Store Decor

Things have been slow for me on the scrapping front as I've fractured my bone and am in a bit of pain. So I'm taking it easy. In the meantime I thought I'd share with you something I created a few weeks ago for PaperMarket for their brand new store in Clementi Mall.

I used some neat wooden frames, Basic Grey's Curio papers, Webster's Pages WaterFall papers and foam and chipboard alphabet from PaperMarket's AlphaBite collection.

PaperMarket is opening another store at Clementi Mall. The grand opening's tomorrow and to celebrate, PaperMarket and Laines Papeterie will be having VIP specials all through April. (see the poster below). How fun! See you there!

Here's another layout of the newest addition to our family.

Look at that cute face. Aaawwww! :)

I found some Basic Grey Max & Whiskers paper in my stash, which is surprising because we've never had any puppies before this. Hhhmm... I must have bought it in expectation of a puppy in our future. :D

The papers are perfect for doggie layouts.

I accentuated the layout with some crystal swirls and felt flowers from Zva Creative in complementary shades of ochre and chocolate.

Zva Creative March DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY! As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. It's a layout of the newest addition to our family, the cutest little puppy. :) He's a little bundle of energy and SO adorable. :)

I used Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden collection on the layout. I tore out a frame from the centre of the patterned paper, scrunching up the edges as I did so.

I adorned the corner of the layout with a beautiful new flower from Zva Creative along with a lovely butterfly crystal swirl.

On the opposite corner, lots of butterflies, hand-crinkled seam binding, distressed edges, and another Zva flower.

Treasure Box Class at Laines & PaperMarket

Hey hey hey! Guess what? I'm very excited to say that I'll be teaching at Laines Papeterie and PaperMarket next month :) I've come up with what I think is a fun class using some of my favourite manufacturers. This is a sneak of what I'll be teaching:

It's a romantic treasure box created on canvas, embellished with lots of pretty bird and butterfly details and some of my favourite new Prima vines, flowers, lace and bloomers from CHA. We'll be playing with glimmer mists from My Tattered Angels and I've sourced some beautiful vintagey metal embellishments as well.

And because it's my first class, I went a little overboard, because when you open up the treasure box, you'll find a coordinated mini album inside. How cool is that? You'll learn to create a treasure box AND a mini album. Perfect for your favourite photos. :)

I'm delivering the sample to the PaperMarket today so you can take a look there. In the meantime here are some photos:

Tag - Enjoy The Journey

Here's a tag I created for Tattered Angels.

I was shopping along some old shops one day and found this old discoloured cotton doily coaster which was definitely worse for wear. I decided to give it a bright makeover with Sunflower mist. Aah... much chirpier. :)

I then used the doily to make a tag, on which I'd stamped my new Tim Holtz bird cage stamp as well as my favourite 'Enjoy The Journey' stamp.

See that little metal bicycle embellishment? Cute eh?

Zva Creative new releases

Look at what came for me in the mail yesterday.

Lots of new flowers and bling from Zva Creative. The flowers are bigger and prettier, and such a perfect complement to the smaller ones from last season. And do you see those butterfly blings? Have you seen the new My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose collection? It's really pretty, and depending on which papers you use, you get a totally different feel to your layout.

On this layout for PaperMarket, I went with a paler palette of subdued orange and grey-blue.

Some close-ups:

I used the transparency frame to frame the photos and titles and scattered butterflies here, there and everywhere in keeping with a sweet garden theme.

All embellishments, frames and brads are from MME.

Remember the treasure box I created for Tattered Angels. Housed inside that treasure box is a little coordinated mini album.

I misted the lace in a lovely shade of blue to match my Prima patterned papers and the treasure box. The seam binding was misted in variegated shades of pink then hand-crinkled for that vintage look.

Treasure Box

Here's a romantic treasure box I created for Tattered Angels.

I used Prima's new Madeline collection on the box plus lots of new Prima flowers and lace. I misted the canvas in shades of Trunk Bay and Bahama Blue, and the trims in Old Lace. I also misted the Prima fabric flowers with Dazzling Diamonds, my go-to mist for adding glimmer to flowers.

One of my favourite things to do with mists is to customize my own crinkled seam binding in shades to match my projects. Here I custom-coloured the seam binding in variegated shades of pink and green.

Nestled among the Prima blossoms is a little cameo. And don't you like that little heart-shape brass key? :)
